The mission of the Georgia Accrediting Commission is twofold: (l) to establish standards promoting instruction of high quality for children in Georgia and (2) to encourage schools to meet the established standards. GAC provides an accreditation process designed to establish and uphold standards, to strengthen the quality of education in each school, and to assure its membership and the general public that the established standards are related to the best educational practices.
The mission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is the improvement of education in the South through accreditation.
Credit recovery is also offered through The Bridge Academy. This option is for public school students who have failed a class and want to recover the credit. Most core courses, with the exception of math, are offered - as are several electives. This is a computer-based, independent-study program and students must be able to work on their own with minimal teacher instruction. Appointments are scheduled so that they do not conflict with the public school schedule. The exams are administered on Mondays and Tuesdays, ONLY. All exams will be released on those days no later than 4:00 p.m.
AdvancED is dedicated to advancing excellence in education worldwide. The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) are accreditation divisions of AdvancED.
