Who is TBA?

The Bridge Academy is the non-traditional path for youth facing challenges in traditional public school and academic learning environments. The Academy’s progressive staff, student-focused class setting and technology based curriculum reveal the students’ untapped potential, exposing them to unlimited possibilities in academic and non-traditional career fields. Be it through postsecondary education, hands on training, or career certifications, the possibility of achieving their lifelong career goals are limitless. The Bridge Academy seeks to expose each young person’s God given ability to thrive and excel-academically, socially, personally and professionally.

1986

The Prevention PLUS, Inc., was founded as a Teen Drug and Alcohol Prevention program.

1989

The Insider's Teen Center began in 1989 as a safe place to "hangout."

1999

Under the new leadership of Marybeth Leavell, youth began looking for other options to complete their high school education. An educational program was formed and registered through the Home School division of Clayton County Public Schools.

2001

Forest Park Street School was officially established.

2002

The school achieved full accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Independent Study, allowing Forest Park Street School students to be eligible for the HOPE scholarship.

2005

The school achieved full accreditation through the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

2007

Full accreditation received through SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). Forest Park Street School begins providing credit recovery to Clayton County Public Schools students to help them complete missing credits needed for graduation.

2014

Under the leadership of Executive Director Tammy Miller, The Bridge Academy was formed as a small project-based academic program designed to empower students to achieve their highest potential—academically, socially, emotionally, and professionally.
